Argo

Ben Affleck stunt us whit a very diverse movie, were you can have action, comedy and politics in a very natural coexistence.
The film begins whit an amazing sequence were we get a glimpse of Irã history showed in cartoons that turn in real photos, that goes so well with the film because its a movie based in a real life event and this is pretty much a cartoon of what happened in history, and Affleck makes it so more clear that and he puts the characters of the film beside with photos of the people who lived that history.
Other big achievement of the director its his ability of making working for the film to be funny and serious when it has to be. You can laugh when Ben Affleck goes to Hollywood to meet Goodman and make the fake movie look real, bud when the attention moves to Irã the movie becomes tense and you don't feel that Affleck don't know what he wants for the film, you think just the opposite, and realize how good director he became.
The biggest flaw of the movie its that goes with the normal positioning of Hollywood movies and puts the United States people in the good guys role and the ugly Irã people in the bad guys role. They were making a revolution for christh sake  they ware not happy with live and they ware triyng to change it. Its sad that it went out of proportions when innocent people were hurt, but the entire role of the USA in the recent history of that country was not worthy of a good guy role.

Wreck-It Ralph

Wreck-It Ralph

With a great idea Rich Moore creates a very fun and well thought  world of video-games, whom characters in the night, when the arcades are close, go by the electric system to visit each other and live lives there are no much different then ours after leaving work.
Put in that great world we have a villain who is tired of his life and wants to be loved like a hero. Ralph, after the bet  that him could not get a medal, travels to other games and brakes every thing in his way, that obsession get the viewer tired and shows that Ralph in fact is a shallow character that wants to break the system just because he is tired of being ignored by the little fellows in his game.
The art direction is beautiful respecting all the elements and history of video games, like when the characters that live in a 8-bit game moves in a robotic way and when the main character of Ralph's game jump, you can hear to the nostalgic sound that we all know.
Its a shame that whit all that potential in the movie to attract the first generation of gamers all the way till his sons, Wreck-it Ralph give us a very childish screenplay and characters, with a crude humor that do not make the grown ups lough and do not give the child an memorable comedy.
In the end when Venellope says that she is not a princess and that she knows her place, she is very right because her place is not whit the old princess of Disney, but in a childhood easy to forgot.

Two Rabbits

Two Rabbits

Its always a pleasure to watch a Brazilian movie whit the guts to do it differently, to show that the seventh art in the country of the football still has a great future ahead.
Afonso Poyart surprises us whit a history of robbery  corruption and back stabbing counted in a very Brazilian way, whit great strength and by the peaces that the main character Edgar (Fernando Alves Pinto) want us to know. The direction of the film make it quick and easy to watch despite the overflowing of characters and the complex scheme that Edgar plans.
The direction of art takes the best in São Paulo to feature the history and the always present contrast of the wealth and the poverty present in the movie.
But the velocity and plot twists of the film do not contribute to the understanding of the characters and their goals.
Afonso give us an main character that show no remorse after murder a mother and her child and have a life of plenty and yet seek for more money. Julia who in the beginning of the film appears as a fragile woman who its getting to much involvement in the hard life of crime, becomes an famme fatale who plays her husband and ends like the motivation of Edgar plans and his lover who do anything for the love shared by them. Walter its a blur figure hidden behind the bear of Caco Ciocler who Afonso leverages of the common though that he hated Edgar, to make him one of the lasts peaces of the puzzle.
After all, you can see that the development of characters that Afonso does, do not make theirs mind clear to the viewer, the director knowing that, he use it to make more plot twists.
All this things show how this movie has an great argument that was not entirely passed to the script.
Regardless of that mistakes  we see a lot of courage in Afonso's movie and it make me thought of the  people saying, in the time of the release of "The secret in their eyes", that the Brazilian movie makers do not had that courage, but now i know that they have, and they are showing it.
